TERMS OF SERVICE
This site is for educational and entertainment purposes only. Nothing here is legal advice, nor does it create or imply an attorney-client relationship. Effort is made to be as accurate as possible, but the law changes from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, and your understanding might not be the same as that of the judge. There is a legal term for those who interact with police and courts based on stuff they’ve seen online: “Inmates.”
This site is PG-13. By necessity, at times there will be content that is violent, sexual, horrific, or in poor taste. Parents are urged to exercise their own judgment before permitting their children to view this site.
Forbidden uses: It is forbidden to use this site to violate law or to infringe on anyone’s rights. It is forbidden to copy, republish, scrape, make commercial use of, or make derivative work of any site content, except for lawful fair use or as authorized in writing by the author. (If you ask permission nicely, the answer will probably be yes, but you still have to ask.)
Public communication: All user-submitted content is a public communication to a wide audience. Members of that audience may not necessarily respond with wholehearted agreement or acceptance. By posting, every user accepts that risk.
No guarantee that user-submitted content will remain visible: There is no guarantee that user-submitted content will be monitored, or that any such monitoring will be done consistently. User-submitted content can be rejected, modified, or deleted, for any reason or no reason at all. Users can be blocked from accessing the site for any reason or no reason at all.
Unlimited permission to republish user-submitted content: By submitting content, every user grants the Illustrated Guide and its author a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, unrestricted, worldwide license to reproduce, prepare derivative works, distribute copies, perform, or publicly display that user content in any medium and for any purpose, including commercial purposes, and to authorize others to do so. So if the author decides to include any user comments in a published version of the Guide, for example, he has such users’ permission to do that.
Unauthorized content: If any user submits content that the user is unauthorized to submit, or which violates law or rights, then that user agrees to bear sole responsibility for any liability that results.
Sign-in information (such as name, email address, social media login, etc.) is used solely to ensure that actual human beings are submitting content, and to permit the display of user avatars. That information is not made public, nor is it used for any other purpose.
Stuff happens. Things break. Nobody guarantees that this site will always work properly. But if you see a problem, please let the author know.
