Chapter 9: At Least You Tried
Attempt pg 12: Taking Steps
Flint Michigan’s shadow on a brick wall, in the beam of a flashlight.
Your old partner Flint Michigan (on the other hand) is an interesting case.
Flint hasn’t done anything to you—he hasn’t hurt you, you hasn’t killed you. But in some jurisdictions, he’s already guilty of the crime of ATTEMPT.
Attempted murder, to be precise.
[SUGGESTED EDIT: change “you hasn’t killed you” to “he hasn’t killed you]
Average Joe talking head
AVERAGE JOE
Why??
Flint hasn’t hurt you. He has the necessary intent, but he hasn’t committed the actus reus for assault or murder.
Why should he be punished for something he hasn’t even done yet?
you hasn’t killed you
I’d say he’s guilty for the attempt because of the 10 or so people he beat the crap out of to find you so he can kill you.
