The reason she didn’t complete your murder is not because she changed her mind before shooting at you—it’s because she missed.
Timing is everything.
I’m guessing that if she had kept coming she’d be looking at a second count; giving up gets her out of that at least.
One can always claim she missed on purpose, no?
