Remember the instructions Gouverneur Morris was told to write for himself? Ron Swanson's got nothing on this guy.

It is generally accepted that Gouverneur Morris wrote the Committee of Style draft. It is also strongly suspected by many that he slipped in some changes of his own, designed to give the federal government more power than they might seem at first glance. There is powerful evidence to support this suspicion.

The two most commonly-cited instances, however, are probably poppycock. They don’t correspond with known events. Probably just good yarns that got better in the re-telling by people who weren’t even there. If not by Morris himself.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. On to the next page!
