    Was law an accident in other societies that developed it, independently of the ancient Hebrews?

    You know, I just noticed something.

    When originally written, the Code of Hammurabi was a purely symbolic text that proclaimed the king’s legitimacy and justice. Here, the Ten Commandments are partly there to proclaim their god’s legitimacy.

    Nowadays, judges put monuments of the Ten Commandments outside their courthouses for exactly the same reasons.

    • Nope! It’s got to be at least 20 years since I saw Mulan. Now I have to go look it up to see what the resemblance is…
