Specifically, from what we experience when we are vulnerable.<\/strong><\/p>\n

SIS (narrating)<\/em>:\u00a0\u00a0Our cousins the chimps do this by \u201cgrooming\u201d (picking parasites off others\u2019 backs). They\u2019re vulnerable to attack when they expose their back and head to a potential rival…<\/p>\n

CHIMP 1<\/em>:\u00a0\u00a0Hold still…<\/p>\n

CHIMP 2<\/em>:\u00a0\u00a0But instead of taking advantage,<\/strong> she\u2019s taking care<\/strong> of me!<\/p>\n

SIS (narrating)<\/em>:\u00a0\u00a0This trust-building exercise builds two-way relationships of reciprocal<\/strong> altruism.<\/p>\n

We come together in communities we know practically as well as ourselves…<\/strong><\/p>\n

…and with masses<\/strong> of people…<\/p>\n
