I wonder if anyone has ever done an empirical study on the affect of overtime pay on the number of hours that officers work and/or the number of arrests that they make per-year. The only problem is that 1.5 normal wages is mandatory for all hourly workers. So who would be the control group?
Make the 1.5x normal wages the control group, and give 3x overtime wages to the test group.
