If you’ve ever wondered whether the Albigensian Crusade might have had any effects on state formation in medieval France, then buddy, you are in luck.

If not, this doubles as a surefire remedy for insomnia. And if you print it out, it makes a handy doorstop!

Now that I’ve come up for air, THE COMIC WILL RESUME FORTHWITH. I’ve already started inking the first panel of the next page. (Which is going to be a doozy. One of the longer pages I’ve done, and that’s saying something. Should be fun, though.)

(If you truly are interested, I must apologize for it being so short. I am well aware that the paper is criminally brief. Each section deserves a full volume of its own, and could certainly fill one. And I entirely left out the economic context, which is fascinating, but which I deemed too tangential here. My cutting-room floor would give a deep-sea squid thalassophobia—an abyss of appendices, unimaginable depths of digressions, fathomless floods of forsaken footnotes…. Still, what remains should be enough to get you started with.)
